I like that you try not to focus on the crimes committed as it centers the humanity of the individual. With that said, how do you form relationships with incarcerated folks when you are aware of the crime they committed? Especially when the crime is something like pedophilia?
Elspeth (Elle—speth) from Scotland here. Captivated listener from your very first episode. I have an unusual Scottish name that people trip over on pronunciation, both in my native Scotland and when I lived and worked in the U.S. You both have utterly unique names; I know there are songs about the name Nigel … and Earlonne, your name seems tailored for EAR-Hustling! So my questions are 1: how did you get your name? 2: what opinions do you think people form of you when they hear it? And lastly 3: have there been times when your name has held you back or worked in your favour? P.S. From ‘Roach’ to ‘New York,’ to ‘Good, Grace, Unique, Ponce, and Charity’ there seem to be so many incredible names of people you’ve talked to. Would love to hear more in episodes about this.
Nigel said she wanted juicy questions, so here's mine. This is for E: I've heard that while men are incarcerated, some straight men will engage in homosexual activity as a way to get some action rather than none. Do you think this is true? If so, does it mean the men weren't really 100% straight to begin with or do they just do it to get some level of intimacy since they can't be with a woman?
